Overnight Bagel French Toast Recipe

Ingredients
French Toast Bake
- 6 Stale Bagels sweet variety such as our apple pie spice or cinnamon raisin
- 5 eggs
- 2 cups milk whole, skim, almond are all fine
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup pancake syrup will work in a pinch
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Cream Cheese Glaze
- 2 oz cream cheese softened
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp maple syrup pancake syrup works fine
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp lemon zest optional
Instructions
- Coat a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray or nonstick option of your choice.
- Tear the bagels into bite size pieces and place pieces into the baking dish.
- In another bowl, whisk together all remaining French Toast ingredients.
- Pour over the bagel pieces and carefully and lightly toss the pieces to coat them in the egg-milk mixture. You want every piece coated. Press down gently if needed.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place in the fridge overnight, or at least 4 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350℉.
- Uncover and bake for 30 minutes or until custard in middle has set.
- Mix together ingredients of glaze and pour over warm casserole. Let cool slightly and serve.
